I’m so excited for this year!
After falling pregnant in the autumn of 2019, and then giving birth and recovering in 2020, I’ve been really looking forward to getting ‘stuck back in’ to running on a regular basis.
I was successful in the 2020 London Marathon ballot, which I deferred to this year, so will be taking part on 3rd October 2021! This means that I have to be in good form – hopefully to the fitness level that I was before I fell pregnant! – before marathon training begins in summer.
Being a single mama to a baby is tough at the best of times (but also amazing!), and I’m due to go back to work part-time in February, so organising time to run will be a bigger challenge. However, I’ve managed to squeeze in quite a few runs recently, and always aim to run anything between 3.1 and 6.2 miles. I’ll increase the distance soon – I just wanted my body to get used to running again! I feel really good, and have really enjoyed every run I’ve done so far. My body feels ready, and completing a 5K doesn’t take much effort at all. It’s a great feeling!
